A truck of choice, extra well-finished steers from Mr E, W. Beer, Cambridge, averaged Ll4 15s, and four very choice steers from Mr R. H. .Bailey, Tirau, averaged Li6 Is lOd ; and another draft of 25 heavy bullocks averaged Ll4 lis 3d. Fat and young calves again penned in large numbers, and sold freely at late quotations. Runners, L5 3s to L5 16s ; heavy suckers L3 10s to L4 10s, medium L2 6s to L3 3s, light Ll 5s to L2 ss, small and fresh-dropped lis to Ll ss, weedy 3s to 7s ; 137 sold. The sheep pens were moderately filled with a nice class of mutton. Theie was an improved demand, and values firmed to the extent of Is 6d head, Extra heavy prime wethers Ll 12s 6d to Ll 13s 9d (one small pen brought Ll 15 6dj, heavy prime Ll 9stoL! lis 6d, medium to heavy Ll 6s to Ll 8s 6d, light and unfinished LI is to LI 3s ; extra heavy prime ewes Ll BstoLl lis, good Ll 3s to Ll 6s, others 18s to Ll 2s ; hoggets, Ll2stoLl7s; 1733 sold. The 88 spring lambs were insufficient for requirements, and brought from Ll 0s 6d to Ll 5s for best, others 13s 6d to 29s 6d- Pigs penned in large numbers. Baconers and porkers met with decline in prices. Choppers to L4 14s; heavy baconers L3 18s to L4 9s, lighter L3 5s to L3 13s • large porkers L2 10s to L3 2s, smaller Li 8s to L2 7s, small Ll 7s to Ll 15s. Stores of all classes sold freefy ; slips L1 3s to Ll 9s, weaners to Ll 3s, suckers 10s to 18s ; 203 sold
