KAIPARA RUGBY UNION.

t The dance Social held under the auspices of the Kaipara Rugby Union last evening in the Foresters' hall was ;of a most successful order. There was a big crowd in attendance and ; the proceedings were most enjoyable. The chief event of the evening was the presentation of caps to the i champion team of the year, Parakai, i which was carried out by Mr Jas. Mc Leod (President) in the unavoidable absence of Mr Gordon Ooates M.P. for the district, i After a programme of dances Mr Tui McEwin, Chairman of the Management Committee, asked Mr Jas McLeod to make the presentations of caps to the champion team. In his opening remarks Mr McLeod mentioned the inability of Mr Gordon Coates to attend on account of special business in Parliament, He con-* gratulated the Union /on the very successful season they had just passed, through, which had resulted ia between £60 and £70 being taken as gate monies, and showed that the * public were taking a keen interest in the game. He had seen a number of the games himself and was satisfied they had been played in a sportsmanlike manner. There had been no rough play and no accidents, although the eames had been fought hard. In. particular he considered tho Helens-ville-Parakai games were fought hard and he thought Helensville played with hard luck. Proceeding, he expressed a hope that the players representing the district would always try and " play the game," and when they were travelling remember that the district expected them to behave like gentlemen. He mentioned the pro* gress the Union was making, also the fact that an insurance scheme for players had been successfully established. The presentation of Caps was then made, after which Mr Logan McLeod captain of the team, briefly returned thanks to the Union for providing Caps for the winners. Mr Tui McEwin referred to the good season that had been met with and expressed a hope that next year there would be Junior teams also playing in the district. Most of the Cap winners were Mib^ roitted to good-natured • barrack by * their confreres as they received the trophies, which was followed by the Parakai battle cry and an exchange of felicitations by the players belong* ing to various teams. Cheers were given for the Chairman, also the Union officials. An adjournment for supper then took place, and was followed by more dancing. The music was supplied by Miss Little, and extras were contributed by Miss Myrtle McLeod and Mr Coulthard. A vote of thanks was accorded to the ladies who had assisted the Union* also to the gatekeepers. The sociali was highly successful and enjoyable. Local football players dulv appreciated Mr J. MoLood*s humour last night at the Football Social when he mentioned that Parakai team would have some new blood next season among which would be Mr McDonald at full-back Mr Dave Russell and himself at i and Mr R. Nicholls in the three-quarter line. Ask to see the new low bust lonffskirted models in W_*n_;_' B Rust.. proof Corsets, Every pair guaranteed. Local Drapers.
