McMAHON'S CIRCUS.

SATURDAY, JAN. 27th

The above Circus which has toured the Dominion to the accompaniments of big houses is billed to show its paces h6re on Saturday night next. That McMahons Circus is all which Mr John E. Gullen, its touring manager claims it to be, is shown by the high praise bestowed upon it by the press wherever it has been tented. The huge tent a 75 foot topper has drawn large and enthupiastic crowds in the farthest North and the "North Auckland Times" in an eujrolistic criticism says amongst other things the following which we have clipped.

The above mentioned circus opened to a packed tent at Dargaville on Thursday evening and gave a solid and i entertaining programme of ring items; the performance, which lasted two hours and a half, being one of the best ever produced here in. circus history, the various stunts by both artists and animals earning unstinted applause. Amongst the artists contributing to the big success scored were Miss Nellie Lyndhurst, "whose marvellous feats on the high wire astounded the vase audience, her juggling performance in the second part also won high approval. The contortion acts in which Miss Ethel Packer winds herpelf up into almost impossible positions, making it appear that she is set up in an elastic frame, gained great applause, while later on her trappze work pleased everybody, her double dislocation feat bringing down the house. The quartette of highly trained dogs in the skilful hands of their tutor, Miss Nellie Conyers, was another item which caught the crowd, The bounding jockey act m which Mr Bert Packer throws complete somersaults whilst the horse in galloping and jumping hurdles proved an excellent turn aud showed Mr Parker's abilities as a ring artist in glowing colours. The various witticisms and clean crisp jokes of the two clowns, Kail Browne and Tim Reynolds, were new and up-to-date, and as a consequence we're greatly relished by the audience. Sydney, the trick pony showed signs of clever tuition by his teacher Mr Ted McMahon, and put up a fine show the crowd applauding him throughout in -an enthusiastic fashioD. Mr Ted McMahon also introduced his trio of trained epuines whose performance was equally clever their drilling and waltzing being alone sufficent as to almost bring the house down. The hi gh jum pin ggrey fc ound s headed Jby the Australian champion Tim.; gave an exhibition which'satisfi. cd all present and the autics of the monkeys in their steeplechase created side splitting laughter. There is not "one dull item on the bill and "we< can safely recommend a visit to the circus to all our readers.

By special request Kaukapakapa will be played on Friday, the Circus making the journey by train from Wellsford after caravanning it from "Whangarei to that station. Henderson and Avondale will be played prior to its opening in Auckland next month.
