Wellington, June 28. A movement is on foot to incorporate the villages of Katwarawara, Ngahau. ranga, Johnsonville, anJ the adjoining hill districts into a borough. The Corporation intend to appeal against the amount levied on the city by the Charitable Aid Board this year, on the gound that the Hutt county pays less than it should, and thus casts an extra amount on the town.
The Evening Post to-night says "That Gaspin'ni did escape, and is now alive, well and in perfect safety is, we believe, beyond doubt, as communications have been received fiom him. Some day we may be in a position to give a true account of how the escape was managed, but at present it is manifestly impossible that this could be done with safety." Major General Strange gave a successful trial of the Maxim gun this afternoon in presence of a large number of officers of the local Yolunteer forces and Permanent Militia. Another trial will be given to-morrow, when members of the Legislature will be present.
