The Kumara Times. PUBLISHED EVERY EVENING. FRIDAY, JUNE 4, 1886.

A. public meeting, convened by his Worship the Mayor, will be held at the TWn Hall, this evening, for the purpose of considering the advisability of nrging on the Government the necessity of connecting Kumara by a loopline with the Hokitika-Greyraouth and East and West Coast Railways. Notwithstanding the repeated assertions of some of our contemporaries that Mr Seddou is doing what he can to injure the promotion aud work of the East and West Coast and Nelson and the Greymouth-Hokitika railways, we feel satisfied these surmises will all vanish when Mr Seddon’s actions and motives come to be explained and understood. In fact Mr Seddon’s telegram to the Mayor of Hokitika, which we published in Wednesday’s issue is a complete refutation of the charges made against, him in Hokitika of opposing these railways. No doubt the Mayor of Kumara, who has called the meeting to-night, will farther enlighten Mr Sed lon's constituents, and it is very desirable that all residents in the distdct should sound their voices to-night in the ears of the Government on the desirability of Knmara, Goldsborough, and Staffed, being connected by a loop-line wish the East and West Coast and Nelson railways. The meeting commences at eight o’clock.
