NOTICE )URE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished patronage ot his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome* according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, Upon instrnctions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs* dated Uth March, 1878 s. ' We are informed that dealers Iri nlediCne often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious $ but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly op posed to one another we. consider its our duty to direct the public attention, to the following facts : The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be* of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawings blistering effect Upon the skin-. Any blistering brought oh by the application of a medicament must increase inflammation> and it is therefore evident that in cases of woUnds* colds* bronchitis) diptheria, croup, sprains* &c, the curative power of oUr extract on the named diseases being unques 2 - tionably proved by former publications in this paper, ah application bf th& oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded npon the fact that the oil is a resinous" product, equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight; Our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves* soothing and healiug ih its effects, its price being-twenty-fonr shillings for one pound weight; Our extract, the genuine article, is only made Up in one halfounce and one Ounce vials; vials bear--ing oh the labels our trade mark and signature. SANDER and SONS* 'Sole Manufacturers of the Eucalyptus Extract. Sandhurst November* i 878; DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand-. Thie'Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus* manufactured Jsolely by Messrs Sander and, Sons* Sandhurst, recommends itself by the -following declaW tion - Epitome of declaration made before Moritz Cohn* J.P.* on the 17th October* 1877, at,Sandhurst i~ "Three: medical gentlemen had attended the son of Mr Ruabe* of Iron bark* M for nine weeks* and declared that amputation of the lbg injured by an aXe was absolutelynecessary. At this junction Mr Raabe called on Messrs Sander and Jbons* pro* curing, some of • their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and* by .thlfj application of the same he had the satisfao tioh of seeing his son within a fortnight out of all danger* and he has now quite recovered." -' -' Brief Extracts from tne Bendigo Evening News :• ■•■■• ■ Mr Gieschen, residing near Sydenham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, Could scal'Cely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief. Cored after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much, as an interruption in his attendance at work; Mrs Weppnfer, in Coibinabbltt (Runny mede) informed the manufacturers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled Upon by a cow. In November, Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman's Arms* Back Creek, brought information" of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke* which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered itt the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of considerable'size, disabling her from attending to any work. She removed the swell' ing completely by a continued application of the extract. The Donald Times, of Ist December, 1877, states;—Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache. The extract Was applied, and the little fellow was cured and asleep in ten minutes. DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealandi
