Since the beginning of recruiting for the Territorial Army began in Ongarue a few months ago there has been a fair response. About six recruits are at present attached to the Taumarunui unit, while several others are attending a training course. There are a number of bushmen who have offered their services but have not yet enrolled. It is hoped that Ongarue will soon have a platoon of its* own.
