PIO PIO NOTES

R.S.A. MEETING. CO-OPERATION IN DEFENCE. The monthly meeting of the Pio Pio R.S.A. was held in the Rest Room on Tuesday last, Mr. G. G. Bevege presiding over a fair attendance. The secretary reported that there was no further correspondence from the Government as to the use of the branch as a “unit” in the reserve, but Mr. L. K. Wilson reported having recently, in Wellington, been in touch with representatives of Headquarters. The indication is that considerable confusion exists between the R.S.A. Central Executive and the Army and the Minister of Defence. The R.S.A. have a scheme as to how the general body of returned men can best be used, but so far it has not been adopted by the Defence Department. It is understood that the topics under discussion at the coming annual conference of the R.S.A. in Wellington will be almost solely limited to defence. The branch decided to keep its next monthly meeting as a ladies’ evening, when they will meet in the Town Hall instead of the Rest Room. Detailed arrangements were left in the hands of the secretary, president, and Mr. J. K. Walker.
