TOURNAMENT CUP WON.
About eighteen teams, representing Te Kuiti, Te Awamutu, Otorohanga, Te Kawa, Paterangi, Hairini, and Hangatiki gathered.at TesAwamutu school courts on Saturday to play the final games of the season for the Tournament Cups. .* i
In their first game set ior the day, jj Convent won by default from Te * Awamutu Old Girls. Their next ) draw was Te Kuiti Old Girls, which, j after a very even game, resulted in £ a win for Convent, 7—6. This ■> brought them to the final against ij Paterangi. After a few minutes of *■ play Convent lost one of their best < players, J. Jackson, who sprained her ' : ankle. However, a competent player 1 replaced her and after a very stren- \ uous game with a score of 6—4 Te Kuiti succeeded in gaining the Cup donated by.the Te Awamutu H0te1.,,,
"B" Team to Play Final.
Convent B drew. Athletic- B" for j their first game, having an easy win j 0 f 23—2, their next draw being I Hangatiki, and after a very strenu- j ous and exciting game were fortu- : nate in scoring the winning goal, • the score being 7; —6. This- left j Convent B in the final, but owing to j the late hour the game against Te \ Kawa for the B Cup was postponed \ until next Saturday. ! ARIA v. PIO PIO SCHOOL. Pio Pio High School fielded the j best team Aria has played this sea- \ son, and won a keenly contested j game by a safe margin, the score at j the final whistle beins U to.-9» The ; game was played at Pio pio iunder \ good weather conditions during Sat- \ urday afternoon. The winning side j showed that combination is of para- I mount importance as a match win- j ning factor, for it was in this phase i of the game that the High School team worried Aria. Reputed to be a side possessed of excellent combination, the Aria players four.d f themselves strongly challenged in j their own style of play, i and weVfi j forced into defeat by a better team, i Honours for the winning side must ; be credited to B.
