STATE THEATRE
The final screening of the thrillingmystery film, "Charlie Chan at Monte Carlo," will be shown at the State Theatre to-night. Gifted with an exceptionally strong cast, the long awaited film "The Squeaker," will be screened on Tuesday and Wednesday next. This filmisation of the late Edgar Wallace's popular thriller offers sterling entertainment that will appeal to every type of picture-goer. Edmund Lowe has the chief role as ex-Inspec-tor Barrabal of Scotland Yard, a brilliant detective brought to the verge of ruin by drink. It is he who, in a vivid and original climax, captures the mysterious figure known and despised as "The Squeaker." Appearing opposite Lowe in the principal feminine role is Ann Todd, the talented young actress whose star is gradually growing larger every time she appears on the screen. Her fiancee in the film is Sebastian Shaw, who gives a masterly performance in the title role. Beautiful, glamorous Tasmari Desni is seen in the role of a cabaret dancer who becomes entangled in "The Squeaker's" net.
