SOLE BROS.' CIRCUS

NOT A DULL MOMENT. There was not a dull moment in the performance of Sole Bros.’ Circus last evening, and the entertainment throughout was of a vary high standard.

The animals showed evidence of patient training and the intelligence displayed was amazing. Probably the portion of the show which appealed most to the audience was the work of the acrobats and tumblers—there appeared to be nothing that these versatile artists could not perform. The sensational ladder act of the Ridgway family, too, is worthy of special mention, as is the clever plate spinning and juggling of Tas Bradley. The breath-taking act of Captain Andrew and his performing lions was a feature of the show, while the monkey and pony steeplechase was roundly applauded. Great amusement was caused when five or six local boys took advantage of the management’s offer to learn circus riding. It appears that the boys have still a long way to go as each of them parted company with his mount after about ten seconds — although, to give them their due, it is suspected that a tug of the rope which was supposed to be helping them had exactly the opposite effect. Throughout the performance the antics of the clowns, Pipo and Bippo, kept the audience in roars of laughter and played a large part in making the show such a success.
