TAUMARUNUI BEAT TE KUITI. WIN BY BIG MARGIN. The Taumarunui R.S.A. cricket team visited Te Kuiti during the week-end and gained a convincing first innings victory over the home side. Te Kuiti batted first but managed to knock up only 84, to which the Taumarunui men replied with 230. Pederson, Senr., was the principal scorer for Te Kuiti, making 35, while Kitto had 13 not out. Bowling for Taumarunui, Thomas secured 3 wickets for 7 and Gisby 3 for 34.

In their second innings Te Kuiti had lest 8 wickets for 37 at the close of time. McLay with 4 for 10 and Thomas with 3 for 13 made a devastating onslaught on the wickets. McLay had a day out and scored 68 for the visitors. There were eleven 4’s and two 6’s in his total. Other helpful scorers were McNamara with 41 and Gisby 24. Pulham had some fun while he was in, hitting five 4’s in a total of 21. Howell was Te Kuiti’s most successful bowler, securing 5 wickets for 31.
