REPLACING LODGE HALL
MOVE, BY COMBINED SOCIETIES FRIENDLY SOCIETIES AND R.S.A. Since the burning of the Lodge Hall owned by Messrs. Barraud and Abraham, several organisations, including the Druids, Buffaloes and Foresters Lodges and the R.S.A. have been going into the question of building a hall suitable for their meetings. Several conferences have been held on this matter, and at present an art union is being launched by the committee in charge to finance the hall. This art union has been authorised by the Minister of Internal Affairs and is for £25. The proposed hall will be about the same dimensions as that used by the Druids, Foresters and Buffaloes before the fire. This was also rented to the W.D.F.U. and other organisations. As this proved to be of a very suitable size for many purposes, the committee forwarding the scheme are confident that, with the revenue that will be received from outside organisations and the savings effected in the rents paid by the organisations represented on the committee, that a cosy hall of this nature will be of much benefit. Before the fire the matter had received consideration, but the burning of the Lodge Hall made it necessary to take action.
