OTOROHANGA SHEEP FAIR. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., Te Kuiti, report having had their Sheep Fair at Otorohanga on the 17th inst., when sheep came forward in excess of advertised numbers, the penning consisting mostly of ewes, with a fair entry of wethers <and lambs. A considerable proportion of the ewes were of the aged class, and for these there was a good demand, within definite price limits. The freezing companies operated freely, and took a good number of aged ewes suitable for killing. For the better class ewes there was a fair demand, though not so keen as at recent sales. Wethers and lambs sold freely, the latter showing rather a firming tendency. The top price for the day was £2 4s for an extra good line of 2-tooth ewes from Messrs. Tipping and Sons, good 6-year ewes from the same vendors selling at 24s 6d. Our best price for full-mouth ewes was 24s 8d for a line from Mr. A. Mussen. The range of prices was:—Best 2-tooth ewes 445; plainer sorts to 37s 3d; f.m. ewes 20s to 24s 8d; good 6-year ewes 22s 6d to 24s 6d; failing ewes 15s to 20s; fat and forward ewes 15s 9d to 18s; good 4tooth wethers 27s Id; 2-tooth 22s to 245; good ewe lambs 24s to 275; small do, 19s 9d; good wether lambs 17s 6d to 19s; medium wether lambs 15s to 17s; small lambs 9s 6d to 11s.
