Sister Bloxsome, matron of the Te Kuiti Hospital, has returned from her annual vacation.

The engagement is announced of Mabel, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Pettigrew, Hangatiki, to John Stuart, third son of Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Cameron, Te Kuiti.

It is announced that Mr. R. H. G. Connal, manager of the Union Bank of Australia at Martinborough, has been appointed to succeed Mr. O. S. West at Te Awamutu, the last-named having arranged to retire on superannuation.

In response to numerous requests the Mayor of Te Awamutu has taken the initiative in convening a public meeting for Thursday evening next to consider arrangements for tendering a public farewell to Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P., in view of his trip to England to attend the Coronation as a member of the Empire Parliamentary delegation from all the Dominions.

Warm tributes to the work of Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. for Waitomo, in assisting with the native land settlement schemes were paid at a gathering of Maoris and pakehas at Ngaruawahia Pa on Thursday evening to farewell him before his departure for England with the Parliamentary party. The speakers included Princess Te Puea Herangi, Mihi Tamehana, Mr. S. S. Saulbrey, R. Eyre, Mayor of Ngaruawahia, Mr. W. €.. K. Gorge, Mayor of Huntly, and Dr. S. Lambert, of Rockefejler Foundation. The services of Princess Te Puea for the Maori race were highly praised by Mr. Broadfoot in reply.
