SEALING OF MAIN ROAD
PORTION THROUGH PIO PIO. ABATEMENT OF DUST. The well-known contracting firm of Gooseman arrived in this district yesterday to carry out sealing work on the main road south of Te Kuiti. An immediate start is to be made on the sealing through the Pio Pio township. For a week the Public Works Department has given much attention to reducing the dangerous crown at the cross roads through Pio Pio and with the spoil filling a depression on the road down near the dairy factory. When the road is sealed Pio Pio residents should receive much benefit as a result of the abatement of the dust nuisance, which is very real there, especially on sale days. It is understood that this firm also holds contracts for applying a coat to the seal in existence running through Mahoenui and beyond, and for sealing the portion of road from the 10 mile to the 12 mile from Te Kuiti, which was straightened and re-aligned some time ago.
