TO SCHOOL IN CHAINS
Ten-year-old Bobby Feucht staggered into school at Findlay, Ohio, with a chain 15ft. long fastened round his neck. He said his stepfather, William. P. Leeth, had chained him to the kitchen stove. When the time came to go to school Leeth released him from the stove, but still kept the chain fastened to his neck. Bobby added that this punishment was inflicted because he took a piece of pie from the kitchen, after he had been denied it at dinner. Leeth was later charged and sentenced to ninety days in prison.
