WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

ARATORO BRANCH. The January meeting of the Aratoro Women's Institute, presided over by Mrs. Bremner, was well attended by members. Two visitors were present. In answering the roll call, "Songs That Bring Back Happy Memories," it was noticeable that the majority of answers were memories of childhood. The competition for cocoanut ice was won by Mrs. A. Jarvis, With Mrs. Arndt second. A competition was won by Mrs. Dowdall. During the social hour a presentation was made to Mrs. H. Dowdall and Miss Dowdall, who are leaving shortly. The President, Mrs. Bremner, on behalf of the members, extended to Mrs. and Miss Dowdall their best wishes for their future welfare and expressed their regret at their departure. Both recipients returned thanks for the good wishes and gifts, and said they intended to remain members of the Institute and looked forward to visits in the future. Miss Dowdall will shortly be leaving on an extended visit to Australia.

The singing of Auld Lang Syne brought a happy meeting to a close. The hostesses were Mrs. Logan, Mrs. Pittams and Miss Jones.
