BOUNDARIES ALTERED

POWER BOARD AREAS. WAITOMO AND TE AWAMUTU. Considerable alterations to the boundaries of the Te Awamutu and Waitomo Power Boards were recommended by a meeting between these two Boards' delegates on October 7, and these were confirmed by the Waitomo Board yesterday, and by the Te Awamutu Board on Friday last. Briefly, the Te Awamutu Board takes the Honikiwi and Pirongia districts, formerly in the Waitomo Board's area, while the Te Awamutu Board undertakes to facilitate an area of "No Man's Land" between the Panetapu block, recently reticulated by the Waitomo Board, and the Waikato River, being reticulated by Waitomo when the matter comes up for consideration. Delegates reported that the question of the Waitomo Board retaining the Honikiwi district had been fully discussed at the conference between the two Boards, but ultimately it was decided that this area, as well as the Pirongia district, should be handed over to the Te Awamutu Board. A copy of his minutes of the conference between the two Boards was forwarded by the Te Awamutu secretary. These stated that after the purpose of the conference had been explained a letter was read from the Chief Electrical Engineer which contained certain suggestions regarding the alterations of the boundaries between the two Boards. After a discussion two resolutions, one recommending the alteration in the boundary, and the other respecting "No Man's Land," were carried. Mr. Lee said that the delegates had tried hard to obtain more favourable treatment, but they could see from the start that the Te Awamutu Board was likely to have its way. The transference of the area will mean that all the land to the west of Otorohanga, save that adjacent to the Te Raumauku and Waitomo Valley Roads, is included in the Te Awamutu Board's area. Mr. Simms said that the area of "No Man's Land" beyond the Board's lines at Panetapu included an area being developed by the Waikato Land Development scheme. The position was that when power was wanted here the Waitomo Board should have first say.
