KING COUNTRY TEAM

MATCH AGAINST WAIKATO.

The following team has been selected to represent King Country in their match against Waikato at Hamilton on Saturday, September 12:— Full-back: J. Barlow (M.) Three-quarters: Phillips (Kaw.), Bryer (Rua.), Dixon (Kie.) Five-eighths: Crossman (Ohura), Cameron (Oto.). Half-back: Robinson (Tau.) Front row: Fleming (R.), Gordon (R.), Nelson (Tau.) Second Row: Bradshaw (R.), Box (Tau.), Trusttrum (R.), Aldridge (M.) Back Row: Coffin (M.) Emergencies.—Back: Gilbert (M.) Forward: Wheeler (Kie.) There are only two changes in the team from those that played at Te Te Kuiti last Saturday. J. Barlow has been given the full-back position Originally it was intended he should play second five-eighths, but it was ascertained that McLeod has retired from rep. football, so Cameron retained his place and Barlow has gone back—full-backs are very few in King Country at the present time. In the forwards Bradshaw has ousted Turner, but, so far as the personnel of the team is concerned, no change likely to overcome what is likely to be a fatal weakness, failure to get the ball, appears to have been made. NEXT SATURDAY’S GAMES. Maniapoto is to play Mahoenui next Saturday at Rugby Park. The curtain-raiser to this match will be. a game between the Waitete and High School thirds. The Sub-Union on Tuesday decided to write to an Auckland club endeavouring to arrange a match with Maniapoto locally on September 12. Kawhia did not accept Maniapoto’s offer to visit them on that day, nor have Waipa been able to travel to Te Kuiti on September 19. The Sub-Union decided to ask Waipa to send a third grade rep. team to Te Kuiti on September 12. Congratulations were extended to Hangatiki for’ winning the Pukeweka ANOTHER RAILWAY GAME. Encouraged by their success in winning the Whyte and McKay Cup from Frankton, the Te Kuiti railway employees’ football team is to play Taumarunui at Taumarunui next week-end in a challenge match for the Mullen Bull Cup.
