SUCCESS OF REBELS
THE CONDEMNED GENERALS. THREAT TO GOVERNMENT. (Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 11.45 a.m.) London, August 12. The principal insurgent efforts in Spain were the repulse of the Government troops as the result of a sortie from Saragossa, and a temporarily successful advance from Seville to Cordoba. Rebel headquarters at Burgos broadcast a threat that if Madrid did not commute the death sentences on General Goded and General Burriel, all Loyalist officers in rebel custody would be executed. The Government reports no marked successes. The German Lufthansa planes were released and have flown to Alicante to continue the repatriation of German refugees.
