INDIAN CRICKETERS

MATCH WITH ENGLAND. SOME HEAVY SCORING. (Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 11.45 a.m.) London, July 27. England was favoured with an excellent wicket in the match against India. Hammond and Worthington scored freely. Both were out through attempting to force-the pace, as was also Fishlock. Hardstaff compiled his runs in smart time in a magnificent innings featured by hard driving. Verity batted sedately, while Robins was lucky. Requiring 368 runs to avert an innings’ defeat, Mushtaq Ali and Merchant began sprightly and ran up 100 in 81 minutes. Mushtaq Ali then attacked vigorously and reached his century after 139 minutes.
