OBITUARY

MR. ALFRED HUGH ROSS. The death occurred in the Te Kuiti Hospital on Thursday of Mr. Alfred Hugh Ross, a well known farmer of the Oparure district. He had been in ill health for some time. The late Mr. Ross came from one of the most well-known families of the Wellington Province, his father being Major Alfred Ross, who fought in the Maori Wars, while his grandfather was one of the earliest settlers in Wellington. After spending many years in the Rangitikei district, where he was educated, and farming at Kapiti Island for some time, the late Mr. Ross came to this district to take over a farm near Mangapehi. Later he shifted to his present farm at Oparure, where he has been living for a number of years. He is survived by a widow and an adult family of five.
