BRITAIN’S MEAT IMPORTS
CONSERVATIVES WANT A LEVY.
ON DOMINION EXPORTS
(Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 11.10 a.m.) London, July 22.
The Sun-Herald says a storm is brewing in the House of Commons as a result of the Government’s decision not to impose a levy on meat imports from the Dominions.
The formidable nature of the agitation is evidenced by a resolution passed by the Conservative Agricultural Committee comprising Conservative members of the House of Commons that in order to reduce the amount of the Treasury subsidy and as part of a- long term policy, all meat imports from the Dominions should at the earliest moment be subject to a levy on a preferential basis.
