HEAVY RAINFALL

Exceptionally heavy rain was experienced in Te Kuiti during the week-end, when just inches of fall was registered. This is the second time this month when the rainfall has been over an inch—on the sth a fall of 1.6 inches was registered. However, no reports of flooding have been received on either occasion. The rain on Saturday afternoon hindered sport greatly. Two football teams defaulted, and the intermittent heavy showers and wind made golf not quite so popular as usual. In the evening and night the rain fell heavily and the weather cleared somewhat on Sunday. This morning a further fall of .18 inches was recorded.
