On the evening of the 9th a meeting of interested parents of the district gathered in the District High School to discuss the formation of an Association of Parents. Mr. P. CCullen was elected to the chair until the formal election of officers was completed. The headmaster, Mr. B. H. Howes, addressed the meeting and explained that Parents' Associations were being formed all over New Zealand, and that Te Kuiti was the latest recruit. It was an organisation of parents to forward the interests of the school and of the children. It could be of the greatest value in raising money for school purposes. The parents would be given every opportunity to keep in touch with the school activities, and by seeing the work done they would better realise the needs of the school. In these times of progress, when business and farms were modernised, it was equally essential to modernise a school. He considered the needs of the school included a gramophone and records, a wireless, a library, a cinematograph, games equipment, and the beautification of the school grounds. He considered that a cinematograph was especially valuable, as it had been proved by experiment that children learnt more easily by seeing a thing than by reading about it. At the conclusion of the headmaster's address, the election of officers took place: Patron, Mrs. C. K. Wilson; president, Mr. W. Crocombe; vice-presidents, Messrs, J. Johnstone and B. H. Howes; secretary, Mrs. P. S. Cullen; committee, Mesdames Larsen, Allison and Rodger, Messrs. A. Watson, J. Kilmartin, E. V. K. Allison, and Bowen.

It was decided to run a dance on August 19 to raise funds, and on July 21 to hold a meeting to lay plans for a Queen Carnival. The subscription of the Association is 2s 6d per family, and all parents are cordially invited to join.
