The Sun-Herald says that despite the" confidence of cricket writers that the first eight or ten players for Australia will be chosen from the current Gentlemen v. Players match, a high cricket authority has assured the Herald that no decision will be reached before the second test match against India on July 25th. Hammond is not a certainty as he has not recovered fitness after his illness.
