PIO PIO
HOUSE-WARMING PARTY. The additions to the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. Jackson and family on the Mangaotaki Road, Pio Pio are nearly completed, and the fact was celebrated with a house-warming party on Saturday evening. And as was fitting with the family that must surely be numbered among the most hospitable of the district, the party was not planned on a small scale. Just about 200 people were present from around Pio Pio, Mairoa, Mahoenui, Mokauiti, Te Mapara and Te Kuiti, and all enjoyed the function to the full. Nothing had been spared by Mr. and Mrs. Jackson to ensure the success of the function and the enjoyment of the guests. During the evening Mr. D. E. Pankhurst spoke highly of the hosts of the evening, and called upon Mr. J. E. Trust to declare the building open. Three hearty cheers and musical honours were given for Mr. and Mrs. Jackson, and then more cheers were called for the “little Jacksons” (as a speaker put it), Misses Joyce Nell and Jill and Messrs. Hugh and Jack, and given right heartily.
