ACTIVITIES OF BAND

REPORT TO BOROUGH COUNCIL. In accordance with the wish of the Borough Council, the Bandmaster of the Municipal Band, Mr. A. D. Timbers, submitted a report to the Council meeting last evening on the Band, covering the April-July period. This stated, inter alia, that owing to transfers from the district and other reasons the Band had lost a number of players, and only three members had joined. Practices had been held weekly and have averaged only about 14 men. During the period the Band had played on the following occasions:—ln the town twice, at the Hospital once, at the Anzac Day parades at Te Kuiti and Otorohanga, at the church parade for returned soldiers, and three performances were given at the Winter Show. The members of the Band very much appreciated the; increased subsidy granted by the Council and hope to merit their continued support.
