An Auckland schoolboy, on entering the Grammar School, was requested to produce a copy of his birth certificate for record purposes, but on application being made to the Registi’ar-General no trace could be found of the lad’s existence. Reference was made to the deputy-regis-trar in the district of birth. The surprising information came back that there was no entry of a child bearing the two Christian names given by the parent, but that with all the other facts identical there had been registered the birth of a boy in two other names. The father had registered him, while his mother had had him christened differently. He has been named incorrectly throughout the eight years of his primary school life.
