MOTORING MISHAPS
MAIN ROAD COLLISIONS. FAULTY HEADLIGHTS BLAMED. “I have travelled the main road to Auckland on many occasions, but never have I had such a hectic drive as the trip I made last Thursday night,” said a Hamilton taxi-driver. The speaker added that he encountered about six wrecked and brokendown cars between Hamilton and Pokeno, and in every case the accidents were attributed to the glare of badly-adjusted headlamps,. With heavy motor traffic on the main roads, glaring headlights have become a serious danger, and are held directly responsible for many of the accidents which occur at night. Of the accidents which have occurred on the Main South Road, none was attended by serious injuries although in some cases passengers and drivers were cut by flying glass.
