PIO PIO SPORTS

AN ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME. An attractive programme is offered by the Pio Pio Sports and Athletic Club's fixture to be held on the "Pio Pio Domain on Easter Monday, when prize money and trophies to the value of £250 will be offered. The programme is a comprehensive one, and judging by the support promised for the various events, there should be some exciting competitions. Running events are becoming increasingly popular among the young people, who will be well catered for during the day. The horse events always attract a large number of competitors, and there should be many thrills for the public in the steer-riding event. This year the Club has been allocated two North Island Championships in dancing—the Sword Dance for those under 14 years, and the Sailor's Hornpipe for those under 18 years. It will be noted that the tug-of-war will be for teams of four, and not eight as on the printed programme. Given a fine day the Club should have a record attendance, for every possible step has been taken to ensure a good day's outing, which will conclude with a dance in the Pio Pio Hall in the evening.
