LABOUR CANDIDATE

MR. J. JONES'S CAMPAIGN. ACTIVITY IN COUNTRY DISTRICTS Mr. J. Jones, the official Labour candidate, has been speaking at Kaitangaweka on Saturday afternoon and at Mokauiti, Waitanguru, MairOa, Moeatoa and Kiritehere during the week. Mr. Jones has been covering the various phases of the Labour Party's policy, and stressing the point that, as the Monetary Commission had recommended, the Government must undertake the: control of the banking system—if the State Bank had belonged to the State, credits would have been utilised in whatever direction was considered necessary to benefit the community. The policy of guaranteed prices was also explained by MrV Jones. In 1924 revenue from dairy produce had totalled '£11,000,000, while in 1934 two and a half times " that amount of production had only realised approximately the same amount. Could legislation such as the Mortgage Corporation remedy this disparity?
