. AEROPLANE CRASH. YOUNG MAN INJURED. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 10.45 a.m.) Perth, this day. When an aeroplane he was piloting over the Marylands Airport crashed and burst into flames, Alex. Gilpin, aged 24, a member of the Daily News literary staff, was badly injured and burned. Watchers saw the machine on fire as Gilpin struggled from the cockpit. He was handicapped by a broken leg and fell back into the flames, but rescuers dragged him to safety.
DETERMINED SUICIDE.
BUILDS OWN FUNERAL PYRE
(Press Association. —Copyright. > (Received 10.20 a.m.) Sydney, this clay. The charred remains of a man found in the National Park, 18 miles from Sydney, are believed to be those of a man who built a funeral pyre, lit it, crawled inside and then shot himself.
Two men reported to the police that they saw a man piling logs against the tree. At one end was an opening. large enough to admit a man.
