WHEELBARROW JOURNEY
TRIP TO WELLINGTON.
ARRIVE TE KUITI MONDAY,
Arriving in Hamilton at 4.15 p.m. on Thursday, one day ahead of their schedule, Messrs. G. L. Lukey and J. C. Schofield, who are undertaking a wheelbarrow trip from Auckland to Wellington in 31 days, stayed in Hamilton on Friday to recuperate and left this morning for Te Awamutu. The wheelbarrow is built for comfort. It possesses a pneumat:'c tyre, port and starboard lights, a brake, clock, mirror and horn. The seat is upholstered in rubber sponge and the handles of the barrow possess rubber grips.
Both the "pusher" and passenger are young Wellington men and are full of enthusiasm for their task. There is no wager involved but if either is compelled to drop out it is agreed that he pays the initial expenses.
The pair leave Hamilton for Te Awamutu this morning and will stop the night there. On Sunday they leave for Otorohanga, arriving there in the evening, and on Monday a start will be made for Te Kuiti, where they expect to arrive at 4 p.m.
In a letter received from Mr. Schofield he states that both he and Mr. Lukey are fit and well. They have received a great reception throughout the trip and feel confident that the journey will be completed in the scheduled time.
