NEW HEALTH DISTRICT

WAIKATO AND TAUIHARUNUNI. Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P., has received the following letter from the Hon. Sir J. A. Young* Minister of Health:— "For your information I "desire to advise you that the South Auckland Health District, comprising the Waikato and Taumarunui Hospital Districts, will in future be administered by Dr. F. W. W. Dawson, Medical Officer of Health, who has recently been transferred to Hamilton where a new Health Office is being opened. This step has been take'n pursuant to the policy of breaking up the larger districts, especially where there is a fairly large Maori population,. in order that more intensive attention may be given to public health matters. Dr. Dawson will be in charge of all public health questions in the district placed under his administration." ' •
