INTER-CLUB BADMINTON
CLOSE WIN FOR ARAWA CLUB. MATCHES AT TE KUITI. The games were six all a'nd the Arawa Club won by the difference of a single point when inter-club games were played between the Arawa (Hamilton) and Te Kuiti Badminton Clubs on the Tatter's court in B. and A.'s Hall on Saturday evening. To gain the victory the last Arawa combined doubles pair had to win by 21 points to 10, making the totals points Arawa 212, Te Kuiti 211, and this, with the games six all, must surely be a record close victory. The following are the results, Te Kuiti players being mentioned first: Men's Doubles.—R. Seccombe and J. Sta'nsfield lost to Owsley and Belgrave, 17—21; R. Black and G. Walker lost to Clough and Skeet, 16—21; K. Blackman and J. Colclough lost to Innes and Heathcote, 18—21. Ladies' Doubles.—Misses S. Kidson and C Hitchcock beat Misses Ranson and Nisbet, 21—16; Misses R. Henderson and B. Smith beat Misses Clough and Heathcote, 21—16; Misses M. Wright and Mrs. Sparks beat Misses Seed and Choat, 21—15. Combined Doubles—Miss Kidson and Mr. Seccombe lost to Miss M. Ranson and Mr. Owsley, 5—21; Miss Hitchcock and Stansfield beat Miss Nisbet and Belgrave, 21—13; Miss Smith and Black lost to Miss Clough and Clough, 19—21; Miss Henderson and Walker beat Miss Choat and Skeet, 21—18; Mrs. Sparks and Colclough lost to Miss Heathcote and Heathcote, 10—21; Miss Wright and Blackman beat Miss Seed and Innes, I 21—8.
An exhibition singles game played between the top men of the Clubs resulted: R. Seccombe (Te Kuiti) 15, v. J. Owsley (Arawa) 10.
