An attendance of 7000 watched the best doubles fight in the Davis Cup contest that Britain has put up. Great Play by Tuckey. * This was chiefly due to Tuckey, who many service points and smashed devastatingly. He exhibited fine anticipation. The playing of the Americans was less effectual. than usual in the first set, but they recovered in the second to even the sets. , Britain had a wonderful chance in the third set, and led 4 —l, 5—2, but the Americans fought desperately, •winning the set on Allison's service despite the fact that he doublefaulted five times in the fourteenth game.
