THE STATE THEATRE

"ANNE OF GREEN GABLES." The picture to be screened to-night and Wednesday night is "Anne of Green Gables," that universally loved romance of youth based upon the story by L. M. Montgomery. The picture will appeal to almost any audience, because of its sympathetically directed and superbly played homespun tale. • It is primarily a woman's picture, although not too closely limited by that label, and in its charm and interplay of laughs and tears, developed of a fascinating central character, suggests the kind of emotional offering in which Mary Pickford had her greatest film successes. Anne Shirley takes the character of Anne, and is supported by Tom Brown, 0. P. Heggie, and 'Helen Westley. -•-, ,
