BOTTLE MESSAGE

FOUND ON THORNTON BEACH.

In response to the message found in a bottle washed up on the Thornton Beach about a month ago, by Mr J. W. Hutton, -his son forwarded the letter to Mr A. R. Brown at Gresford, Australia.

Mr Brown, who is secretary of the Gresford Agricultural Society, acknowledged the return of his message as follows: —"I am indeed indebted to you and your father for being so thoughtful in letting me know -that my message has been found, I was on a holiday cruise about six months ago through the South Sea Islands with quite a number of your" wonderfully hospitable New Zealand folk on the good old ship s.s. Marama. I have been in Wellington and Auckland two or three times and was very pleased with the latter place, a little too much rain and wind at Wellington. I have also been to* Rotorua and Wairakei which I think are wonderful, nothing like it in Australia for which I am not a bit-sorry; there's something uncanny about these places. Well, Mr Hutton, my best thanks to you and your father, and if ever I should visit your locality I shall certainly look you up for your very kindly action which is appreciated.
