The last day of the memorable week—but by no means the end of the festivities connected with the Royal Jubilee—was marked by notable celebrations in London, Edinburgh, Belfast, and Cardiff. Their Majesties' sons had gone to represent them in the provincial capitals—the Prince of Wales to Cardiff, the Duke of York, accompanied by »the Duchess, to Edinburgh, and the. Duke of Gloucester to Belfast. The whereabouts of the navy air squadron, which left Pearl Harbour on Thursday for Midway. Island, 1200 miles distant, on a mass flight, remains a complete secret. Observers assume they must have landed either at the French Frigate Shoals, 500 miles from Honolulu, or at Hermes Reef, near Midway. •'.'■; .', On the Jubilee air mail flight to New Zealand and back, Sir Charles Kingsford Smith will carry a letter addressed to the King at Buckingham Palace. The stamps on the envelope will include a . special Australian Jubilee stamp, depicting his Majesty mounted on a charger. The stamps will be postmarked in Australia and New Zealand. His Majesty is a keen philatelist. At Huntville, Texas, Hamilton, the last man to bear the title of "Public Enemy No. 1" was executed in an electric chair. Four others ,were executed at the same hour, thus cancelling a long series of crimes marking tEe end of the Barrow-Hamilton and two other gangs. The United Australia Party, v with 34 seats, and the United Country Party, with 23 seats, seem assured of 57 seats in the new House as a result of the New South.-Wales election, and the Lang Party appears to have won 28 seats. The. issue in five' electorates is doubtful. All three Douglas Credit candidates are likely to lose their deposits. At the Queensland State elections the polling is hailed as' a triumph for moderate Labour, which is likely to secure 45 seats, with the remaining 17 seats going to the Country Party and Progressive Nationalists. The Independents lost their one seat in the House. i Albert Edgar, 30 -years of age, was found in a store adjoining the Cobar Police Station by Constable Woolworth. -The constable flashed a light on Edgar, who is stated to have pointed what appeared to be a gun at Constable Woolworth and Mr. H. Rankins, owner of the, store. ,The constable, thinking the. man intended to shoot, produced a gun and fired. The man leapt to his feet and ran into the street, where he collapsed and died. The Rev. Harold Marley, vicar of Sidgley, England, is the third within a month to announce his refusal of communion to a "lip-sticked" woman. He also intimated that bare-legged women will be asked to- leave his church. He says, "A girl thrusting unclothed flesh normally covered before the close attention of males is % guilty of gross indecency. Ice-scarred, the Bear of Oakland, carrying Admiral R. E. Byrd and 100 of his men, pushed its way up the Potomac to dock, where the members of the expedition received a tumultuous welcome.
