•. MAHOENUI (Own Correspondent). A most enjoyable gift evening was recently given in the local hall to Miss Terry Scott, who is to be married in the near future. The large number of beautiful presents were opened during the early part of the evening, after which Mr. J. Avery thanked'the people on behalf -of Miss Scott. Dancing then continued until the small hours. Mr. W. Rattenbury acted as M.C.

Old, figured rayon; R. Rattenbury, floral ninon; Tibgi, pink satin; Misses 0. Abraham,
red velvet; M. Roberts, check taffetas; M. Gribbon, floral georgette; M. Moir, flame crinkle crepe; B. Moir, sea-green crinkle crepe; A. Davidson, green and white jumper suit; J. - RattenbUry, floral crepe de chine; P. Moir, floral silk pique; T. Wetere, brown crepe de chine; M. Takiari, black satin. Personal. Mrs. T. Davidson and family, of Otorohanga, are spending several weeks with Mrs. J. Old. Mr. and Mrs. Avery have returned from a brief visit to New Plymouth. While attending the gift evening to Miss Scott an unfortunate accident befell Mrs. T. Summers, who slipped on the dance floor and fractured a rib. She was taken to Te Kuiti for medical attention and fis now progressing favourably. Mr. Ron Summers has returned from Stratford. Miss 0. Abraham has returned to New Plymouth. / Mr. and Mrs. Moss and family have returned home. Mr. J. Tubman has left on a visit to Whangarei. Mrs. D. Rumbal and Miss Maureen
Rumbal liave returned to New Plymouth after spending several weeks as of Mrs. R, Rattenbury. . Mr. ahd Mrs. A. H. Rattenbury, Misses Mona, Jean and Jill Rattenbury and Mr. G. Tubman m&tored to Okau to spend last week-end with Mr. and Mrs. T. Hayward. Mrs. OMalley and family have returned from Oliura. Miss T. Scott has left on a visit to New Plymouth. Mrs. D. O’Donoghue has returned from Wellington.
