AUSTRALIA PLAYS NEW ZEALAND _____ * (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 11.40 a.m.) London, February 1. Australia has been drawn to play New Zealand in the first round of the Davis Cup. The winner will meet France. In the draw for the European zone in the upper half Poland and South Africa have byes. The others are: Czechoslovakia v. Jugoslavia, Japan v. Holland. In the lower half, New Zealand v. Australia. France, Germany and Italy have byes. For the North American zone, China v. United States, Mexico v. Cuba. In the South American zone, Brazil v. Uruguay. Sir Samuel Hoare drew the names (from the cup itself in the Council Chamber of the India Office in the presence of many foreign diplomats.
