FIGHTING IN ABYSSINIA

CLASH WITH ITALIAN TROOPS. HEAVY CASUALTIES. (Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 12.45 p.m.) Rome, December 12. An official communique states that 110 Abyssinians were killed at Ulual on December 7. The Italian casualties are not mentioned.

The Italian Government sent a Note to Abyssina demanding satisfaction for an armed attack on the Italian outpost well of Ulual, in Somaliland. The Abyssianians are alleged to have crossed the frontier and killed 60 and injured 400 Italian Somali guards, who held out until reinforcements arrived and then routed the attackers. The latter thereupon fled, leaving their arms, ammunition and equipment littered over a distance of 10 miles. Two Italian aeroplanes bombed the Abyssinians. The whole total of casualties is believed to be heavy. The Abyssinian Government denies responsibility for the occurrence.
