PRESS AND PEER. ABUSE OF PRIVILEGES. . (Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 12.5 p.m.) London, December 12. In the House of Lords, Viscount Hailsham, replying to Lord Reading, said there would be a special sitting on Friday to give the Lord Chancellor a chance to reply to Lord Mattistone's allegations. He said that without a soecial sitting* the subject could not be taken until after the Christmas recess, and it was undesirable that yesterday's statements should remain so long undealt with on behalf of the Government.
Speaking in the House of Lords, Lord Mottistone, formerly MajorGeneral J. E. B. Seely, drew attention to the debate on defence on November 14, and complained that newspapers controlled by Viscount Rothermere, when commenting upon it, accused him of "distortion of facts regarding air strength."
