SUICIDE IN THEATRE. ARGENTINE VICE-CONSUL. (Press (Received 12.30 p.m.) Melbourne, this day. The body of Senor Ramon C Fernandez, Vice-Consul for the Argentine Republic, was found in a room of a picture theatre with a revolver lying nearby. The performance was near the end when the audience was alarmed by the sound of a shot, and the attendants found the body of Senor Fernandez. He had been shot through the head. The papers on the body identified him. THE POTATO EMBARGO. PROTEST AGAINST WITHDRAWAL. (Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 10.55 a.m.) Canberra, this day. A protest against any alteration of the existing embargo against the importation of potatoes into Australia was sent to the Prime Minister by Tasmanian Senators. In a telegram to Mr. Lyons, the Prime Minister, the Senators say they are seriously perturbed at Press reports that in re-opening negotiations with New Zealand there may be an interference wlith the potato embargo, adding that any admission of additional potatoes into Australia would be disastrous for Tasmania. The message added that potato production in Tasmania is one of its , best industries and must be preserved at all costs. The loss of the market for potatoes would mean a very considerable increase in the unemployment figures which would thus gravely embarrass the State.
