THE READ SHIELD

Oddfellows hit up, 61 for their first innings, Hine (30) and Shearer (10) being the principle contributors, and Irving and B. Barlow the most successful bowlers. The Druids, however, soon surpassed this score. J. Barlow and Irving were dismissed for 20, but then Hutchins and Black began to rattle the bowling with their rapid scoring. When, the former -was caught by Muir, J. Dinsdale and Howell forward as Black's partners to raise the score to 5 for 133, when Druids declared.
