A case of mistaken identity recently was the cause of an East Waikato Rabbit Board trapper receiving injuries to a hand. The trapper, according to the story told board members last Thursday, had heard of a black rabbit on a settler's property. One day he saw a black object disappearing into the scrub. He was setting his trap when the object came out again. Dropping the trap, the trapper hurled himself at it. The animal was not a rabbit —it was a wild cat.
