MANGAOTAKI

(Own Correspondent.) A very interesting event took place recently in the opening of the big woolshed of Mr. C. Lowie. This will be an acquisition to the block and the floor is an exceptionally good one for dancing. The Mangaotaki residents combined social efforts to make this a memorable event and one can look forward to future functions there. There was an attendance of about 75 people from intermediate districts. Two or three car loads from Pio Pio attended. The music for the dance was supplied by Mr. W. Jones (piano) in his wellknown untiring style, Master Bob Neal playing the extras. Mr. Cedric Verry was M.C., and carried out his duties in his most efficient manner. During the evening Mr. N. Konaldson sang that ever popular piece "Mother McCree." Mr. Lowe in a neat speech thanked the block folk in helping to make such an enjoyable evening, and it was a real red letter day on the bush farm, when one can build this very necessary structure. Apart from farm uses it has its public benefaction, especially in the backblocks where winter entertainments are so desired. This was the first instance that some of our visitors had in the opening celebrations of a backblocks woolshed, where floor space is so adaptable for dancing and socialability of the first order.
