FISHING RIVERS
IN SOUTH AUCKLAND PROVINCE.
A special meeting of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society was held at Cambridge on Saturday. The meeting approved amendments of the regulations for next season covering the use of various types of fly in different waters of the province. The remit from the Society regarding the closing of the Waipa River for natural fly fishing, caused some discussion, and was not carried. It v/as decided to close the Moakururua stream, in the Honikiwi district, from its junction with the Omarau stream to its source _on Quinn's property, for all trout fishing for twelve months. The regulations formerly applying to all other waters in the Northern King Country stands as before. It was agreed that the Puriri, Raparapa, Omahine and Kakaho streams be open to all fishing from October 1, 1934, to September 30, 1935. Messrs. Johnson, Savage, Gordon (secretary), Withers, Dobson (ranger), and Dr. Johns represented the parent body.
